PITTSBURGH — Witnesses have helped police identify a second suspect in a fatal Hill District shooting earlier this year.
On Thursday, Pittsburgh police arrested a second 17-year-old man at his Ledlie Street home. That person and another 17-year-old are accused of shooting 23-year-old Andrew Roberts on June 23.
Investigators said they used cellphone records, video surveillance, DNA testing and an interview with a witness who was inside the vehicle to tie the first suspect to the shooting.
That suspect was ordered to stand trial on charges of homicide, robbery, conspiracy and gun possession.
After his hearing, Roberts’ family and friends asked to see the surveillance footage used against him, and one of them was able to identify the second teenager as also being at the scene.
The newly identified suspect is charged with homicide, robbery, conspiracy and possession of a gun by a minor. He faces a preliminary hearing Dec. 12.
