Woman to be resentenced in Greensburg torture death

GREENSBURG, Pa. — One of six people convicted in the torture and murder of a woman in Greensburg who was mentally challenged is being resentenced, Channel 11 News learned Tuesday.

Angela Marinucci was 17 years old when she was arrested in connection to the February 2010 murder of Jennifer Daugherty, 30, who was held captive for more than two days. Daugherty was beaten, tortured and stabbed to death.

During a hearing Tuesday morning, Daugherty’s stepfather testified. Channel 11’s Jennifer Tomazic reported that he pointed at Marinucci and said, “Her body was destroyed by you six.”

Bobby Murphy pleaded with the judge not to reduce the sentence.

“You’re going to be Jennifer’s last voice,” he said.

Marinucci was originally sentenced to life in prison, but since that sentencing courts have ruled that juveniles 17 years old or younger cannot be sentenced to life in prison.

Testimony resumes Wednesday.
