PITTSBURGH — Police said one woman was killed in an overnight crash on the Birmingham Bridge.
Investigators said the accident happened around 3:30 a.m. on the South Side end of the bridge.
The medical examiner identified the victim as 25-year-old Jequayla Turner, of Pittsburgh. Police say she was driving the wrong way on the Birmingham Bridge when her car hit the concrete wall of an unfinished bridge ramp.
Police say she was pronounced dead about an hour later at UPMC Mercy hospital. Police were continuing to investigate the crash, but didn't immediately say why they believed the woman was driving in the wrong direction.
The north bound lanes were closed for about an hour while police investigated the crash.
