PITTSBURGH — Sunday's second annual EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler was topped off by a record-setting women's finish and a near record-setting men's finish.
More than 4,000 runners from 29 states participated in the race, which started near Station Square and ended downtown.
Women's race champion Sara Hall, 31, set a course record with her 53:47 finish. The American was the first to break the finish line tape, beating out Ethiopian Buze Diriba, 20, who finished in second place, also with a record-setting official time of 53:47.
UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon record holder Sophy Jepchirchir, 20, of Kenya, placed third in the women's race with a time of 54:19.
Kenyan Leonard Korir, 27, claimed the men's title when he finished in the overall top spot with a time of 46:52, two seconds shy of the course record.
Four seconds behind Korir was Kenyan Nelson Oyugi, 24.
Another Kenyan, Kimutai Cheruiyot, ran the race in 47:49, placing third in the men's race.

A UPMC spokesperson said a total of 11 runners were treated Sunday, none of whom were hospitalized.
