Man arrested, accused of operating meth lab in garage of Ellwood City home

ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. — A man accused of operating a meth lab in the garage of an Ellwood City home was arrested Wednesday evening, police said.

According to the criminal complaint, Robert Lordo Jr. and two others got out of a car and headed to a railroad track area. Someone watching the trio found their actions to be suspicious and called police.

Officers arrived at the home on Johnston Street, questioned a woman and found Sudafed, as well as other items needed for a meth lab, in a bag, the complaint said.

The woman told police that she does meth with Lordo and said he makes it in his garage, the complaint stated.

The complaint said Lordo also told police he has “a drug problem” and that he uses meth in his garage. He told officers he was going to go back to jail as they searched the garage, according to the complaint.

Channel 11 News first reported on Lardo in November 2013 when police arrested him at Ferndale Trailer Park in Franklin Township, Beaver County. He was charged with running a meth lab inside his mobile home, authorities said.

Lardo was arrested, served jail time and was released.

His father told Channel 11 News that he tried to get his son help but added Lardo has been problems for a while.

Mayor of Ellwood City Anthony Court Lordo’s arrest should send a message about how the city is trying to clean up the drugs in the area.

“It does have a major impact on our city. It gives the message and is quite clear: Illegal narcotics will not be tolerated in our city. People coming forward like they did today gives a major boost to helping us fight illegal narcotics in our city,” Court said.

A second man was taken into custody at the scene on an unrelated warrant.

The woman was released pending further investigation.
