GREENSBURG, Pa.,None — A Pennsylvania man charged with five others in the torture and killing of a disabled woman has asked a judge to dismiss the charges against him.
Robert Loren Masters said in documents filed Wednesday that there isn't enough evidence to prove that he was involved in the February death of 30-year-old Jennifer Daugherty. The 36-year-old Masters is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy and other offenses.
Police believe that Daugherty was forced to consume detergent and urine before she was fatally stabbed by attackers who also shaved her head and painted her face with nail polish. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against three of the people charged in Daugherty's death.
Masters' attorney said prosecutors have evidence that puts his client at the scene but there is no evidence that he took part in any crime.
