ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA — It was a close call for firefighters in St. Petersburg, Florida.
They were responding to smoke coming from a manhole when it suddenly exploded.
Duke Energy blames the blast on troubles with a transformer that began Sunday. Representatives with the company said it will be a few days before an analysis team can say what happened.
Crews shut the power off to do maintenance work because the transformer was smoking. Power was cut to more than a dozen nearby businesses.
No one was injured in the fire or blast.
