GREENVILLE, Pa.,None — The National Weather Service confirmed that a small tornado touched down in Mercer County over the weekend. The heavy rainstorms that accompanied it caused a lot of problems for the area.

Martha Martin, of Greenville, recalled the sound of the thunder, saying it stopped just as fast as it started.

"Then the winds had been high. The trailer shook, and something came down. We looked up and leaves were outside, and a big tree was down on the trailer."

The trees also knocked the family's chicken coop off its blocks.

Martin's neighbor, Mark McCullough, didn't catch a break from the storm either.

"I went to the bathroom, started brushing my teeth, and it was just a big roar," said McCullough.

Power crews were at work on Kidd's Mill Road repairing a line that cut power to Martin and McCullough's homes.

But the work didn't stop there. Delaware Township was also hit hard, along with Hempfield Township. On Salem Road, crews removed trees just down the street from the Bigler Cemetery, where plots were toppled by debris.

No weather-related injuries were reported, but storm victims said they feel helpless.

"We had 15 trees damaged, two uprooted. And the rest of them are tree tops taken out and limbs broken off, said Martin.

"We ran to the basement, but the damage was already done before we got there," said McCullough.

Another Martin family living in Greenville had 16 trees on their property uprooted.

"I was in the shower, looked up at the skylight, and saw things swirling," said Dave Martin. His wife Mary told Channel 11 News that 70 miles per hour winds ripped her property apart.

"It shook our trailer for a few seconds," said Mary.

One tree landed on the Martins' home, but didn't go through the roof. Monday, neighbors helped the Martins clean up so they could continue to live there.
