PITTSBURGH,None — A new music show is coming to WPXI-TV.
"It's called 'PromoWest Live' and airs every Saturday at 1 a.m. on WPXI," said Jason Corron, "PromoWest Live" Executive Producer.
"PromoWest Live" will feature a behind-the-scenes look at the concert industry, including interviews and performances from some of the biggest names in music.
"PromoWest Live" was pioneered in Columbus, Ohio, in 2009.
"The television show is a derivative of what we've been doing in Columbus, Ohio for the past two years. We have four concert venues there, and our newest is here in Pittsburgh. In the last two years, we've filmed more than 250 bands in Columbus, and we've been doing the TV show there with the NBC affiliate for 86 weeks. We've taken that same concept and brought it here to Pittsburgh," said Corron.
The Pittsburgh show will focus on artists filmed locally at Stage AE as well as other various venues in Pittsburgh.
"Typically we do two to three bands per episode. We play one to two songs from each," said Steve Boyer, host of the show.
Featured artists will include My Morning Jacket, The Avett Brothers, Guster, 311, Clutch, Jason Mraz and Social Distortion.
Social Distortion was just in Pittsburgh this week for Stage AE's first outdoor show. The concert venue holds about 5,000 people.
If you didn't make it to Social Distortion, you can check out the band in high definition on "PromoWest Live."
"It's not going to look like a local show. It's great for the fans for many reasons. You can live the concert experience you went to or check it out if you weren't able to," said Boyer.
"PromoWest Live" begins airing this Saturday right after "Saturday Night Live."
