Pair of shoes stolen in smash-and-grab burglary at Lawrenceville store

PITTSBURGH — Police are searching for a burglar who threw a brick through the front door of a shoe store in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood.

Officers were called at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday to a burglar alarm at Wagner Quality Shoes on Butler Street.

A hole was visible where the brick shattered the glass.

The store's owner told Channel 11's Jennifer Tomazic that he thinks someone crawled through the small hole and took a pair of shoes before running off.

No arrests have been made.

Tomazic reported that bricks have been thrown through the store door or window at least four times in recent months. In each case, a single pair of shoes was taken.

Lawrenceville United, a community development non-profit organization, told Channel 11 News that the nearby Vape Shop was targeted in a similar smash-and-grab burglary recently.
