NHL releases complete 2015-16 regular season schedule

The NHL released its 2015-16 regular season schedule Thursday, and the Pittsburgh Penguins will open on the road for the third time in five seasons when they play at Dallas on Thursday Oct. 8 at 8:30 p.m.

After a Saturday night game in Arizona, the Penguins will return to Pittsburgh for their home opener on Tuesday Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. against the Montreal Canadiens.

The home opener is the first of a five-game Consol Energy Center homestand that includes games against the Senators, Maple Leafs, Panthers and Stars.
The Penguins annual trip to Western Canada begins on Nov. 4 in Vancouver and is followed by games on back-to-back nights in Edmonton and Calgary Nov. 6 and 7.
Edmonton, which owns the top pick in this year’s NHL Draft, visits Consol Energy Center on Saturday Nov. 28.
The NHL’s Christmas break is scheduled for Wednesday Dec. 23 through Friday Dec. 25.

The Penguins and the defending Stanley Cup champions will play a back-to-back home-and-home series on Tuesday Jan. 5 in Pittsburgh and Wednesday Jan. 6 in Chicago.

The NHL’s All-Star break is Thursday Jan. 28 through Monday Feb. 1.

After Pittsburgh’s Jan. 18 game in St. Louis, the Penguins will play their last 37 regular-season games in the Eastern Time Zone.

The Penguins’ first meeting with the Flyers isn’t until Thursday Jan. 21 in Pittsburgh.
The Penguins and Rangers will meet for the first time on Wednesday Feb. 10 in Pittsburgh.

The Eastern Conference champion Tampa Bay Lightning visit Pittsburgh On Saturday Feb. 20 at 12:30 p.m.

The Penguins wrap up the home portion of their schedule on April 3 against the Flyers and will finish the season with road games at Washington and Philadelphia.

The last day of the regular season is Saturday April 9.

The Penguins will play 17 sets of back-to-back games. Pittsburgh will play Metropolitan Division foes Carolina and Washington five times each while facing the remaining five teams in the division four times apiece.
