Cole’s four wins are tops among National League pitchers with 30-or-more innings, and tie him for the major league lead.
Cole’s impressive 1.76 ERA puts him among the major league leaders in that category, as well.
Cole also has 35 strikeouts (Sixth in MLB) in 30.2 innings of work, and opposing batters have been held to a .198 average.
Cole was the National League’s Rookie of the Month for September in 2013, but this is the first time he has earned the Pitcher of the Month award.
He’s also the first Pittsburgh pitcher to win the award since Randy Tomlin in June 1992.
