PITTSBURGH — A 29-year-old man was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon while sitting in his car on Pittsburgh’s North Side, police said.
Authorities said the shooting was reported at 1:40 p.m. in the 3100 block of Shadeland Avenue in the city's Marshall-Shadeland neighborhood.
Witnesses told Channel 11 News that they heard so many shots, they couldn’t count them.
“He was struck multiple times and (officers) found multiple shell casings at the scene,” Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Emily Schaffer said.
Pittsburgh police said the victim’s driver's side window was shot out.
“What we know is he was sitting in his vehicle in front of his residence. An unknown vehicle approached. We think a black male approached the victim, fired multiple shots and fled the scene,” Schaffer said.
The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Violent Crime Unit at 412-323-7161.
