Police ask for public's help to identify O'Hara Township bank robber

PITTSBURGH — Police are searching for a man who robbed an O’Hara Township bank Thursday, claiming he had a bomb.

The robbery was reported at 10:46 a.m. at the Huntington Bank on Freeport Road.

Allegheny County police said the robber claimed to have a bomb in a blue plastic shopping bag he was carrying. In a news release, county police said the robber “also displayed some type of handheld triggering device or object simulated as such.”

The robber was carrying a large canvas bag and escaped with an undetermined amount of cash.

The man was described as being approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt with the words “Monster Energy” printed on it. The hood was pulled up and the man was wearing sunglasses, a dark blue bandana over his face and rubber gloves on his hands. He was last seen fleeing the bank on foot.

The Allegheny County police, FBI and O’Hara Township police are investigating.
