UNIONTOWN, Pa. — Police said an 8-year-old Uniontown boy helped saved his mom, who was high on embalming fluid.
Uniontown police and EMS rushed to a home on Carson Street this week after the boy called his grandmother for help, saying his mom wasn’t feeling well.
When they arrived, police said they found Cheri Sokol lying on the sidewalk, and she unable to communicate with police.
A responding officer determined Sokol was high on embalming fluid, police said. On the street, it’s called being "wetted up" or "watered up."
Uniontown police Lt. Tom Kolencik said this distrubing practice is becoming a trend.
“They don’t remember anything,” Kolencik said.
Investigators are trying to determine how long Sokol’s three children, ages 3, 5 and 8, were left unattended while she was allegedly high.
“Very surprising. She seems like she works all the time. I’ve had no trouble from her,” said a neighbor, who didn’t want to be identified.
Sokol faces three counts of endangering children.
The children are being cared for by other family members.
