Hillary Clinton, Tim Kaine rally at Pittsburgh convention center

PITTSBURGH — Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and her running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine, of Virginia, made a stop in Pittsburgh Saturday during a jobs-focused bus tour following this week’s Democratic National Convention.

They were introduced by Dallas Mavericks owner and Pittsburgh native Mark Cuban, who announced his endorsement for Clinton moments before introducing her on stage.

“Leadership is getting on a bus and going city-to-city to talk and connect with people and listen to what is important to them,” Cuban said.

Kaine spoke first before an energized crowd of hundreds at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, taking aim at Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

“Do you want a ‘you're fired’ president or a ‘you're hired president?’” he asked.

The event was supposed to begin at 5 p.m., but delays at previous stops in Johnstown and Harrisburg pushed the event back by just over two hours.

Clinton took aim at her opponent, Trump, but also told stories of her travels through Pennsylvania as a child. She also talked about what she’ll do if elected.

“Lift up the incomes of hard working people, to create an opportunity society if you do your part, you can get a head and stay ahead,” Clinton said.

Clinton talked about her plan to put the internet in every home, improve infrastructure for roads, bridges and tunnels, and provide better education opportunities. She said more needs to be done for small business and that women need equal pay.

“When women are short changed, familiar are short changed and the economy is short changed,” she said.

Clinton and Kaine held a rally Friday at Temple University in Philadelphia. They’re headed to Ohio Sunday.
