Popular Pittsburgh-Area Cinema To Close

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Pa.,None — A multi-screen movie theater in Robinson Township is closing after 32 years.

The owners of Showcase Cinemas Pittsburgh West announced plans to shutter the theater on April 15.

The theater has lost many customers to the multi-screen Cinemark theater, which is also in Robinson.

Customers can still use Showcase Cinemas gift cards at the Showcase Cinemas North along McKnight Road. That multi-screen theater is owned by the same group and is not in danger of closing.

In March, the six-screen Squirrel Hill Theater, which was not owned by the company that owns Showcase Cinemas, closed after more than 70 years as a popular neighborhood venue for foreign, independent and first-run Hollywood movies.
