Port Authority Adopts $330M Budget

PITTSBURGH,None — A $330 million operating budget was adopted Friday morning by the Pittsburgh Port Authority.

The budget was adopted in case the state Legislature does not act on the transportation crisis. PAT is asking the state for help with its $50 million deficit.

The budget plan for next year would raise fares, reduce service and cut jobs.

The board will meet again in July with more specifics and a public hearing process will begin in August. The proposed changes would go into effect in January.

PAT transit officials said if the state acts anytime between now and the new year, the process can be reversed.
