ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Ross Township family is able to leave their home after a large tree that fell on their property and blocked their driveway was removed.
The family told Channel 11’s Vince Sims that no one would take responsibility for removing the tree, and their insurance wouldn’t cover the removal.
Justin Ruff, owner of Admiral Tree Service, heard about their problem and donated his time to get rid of the tree for the family.
Ruff said that if tree removal isn’t done correctly, there is potential for fatality.
“We would rather come out here and help this guy out instead of see him get hurt or worst-case scenario, a fatality happen,” said Ruff.
Homeowner Jim Capes estimated the circumference of the tree to be about 9 feet. The tree’s branches had covered the driveway since last week, making it difficult to leave the home.
The family said they had to have friends come to pick them up and take them where they needed to go because their cars were trapped. Capes said he had to miss four days of work because of the fallen tree.
The Capes family said they are overwhelmed and grateful for Ruff’s generosity.
