None — It has only rained once in the last 12 years of the Pittsburgh Marathon. OK, there was a five year gap in there. :)
Last year was like continuosly running in circles through the fountain at Point State Park for some marathoners. It was cloudy, it was rainy, it was humid, it was in the 60s, it was very much like we can expect the weather to be for this year's running of the Pittsburgh Marathon.
We shouldn't be surprised. We have been running rain through here at a 5:42 pace since the end of February. The break this week has been nice, but we've been warning you that it did NOT signify the end of the wet, cool pattern we've seen for more than two months.
The good news, as of Wednesday afternoon, is the best chance of rain Sunday is during the afternoon. That's not to say the morning is going to be completely dry, but if I had to pick a time of the day that looks better it would be morning rather than afternoon.
No, I am not running. I am lucky to go a mile and half without having to break down into a brisk walk. However, I will be cheering on everyone including a relay team from Channel 11. Good luck to all the runners. Have fun and remember that rain and 60 is better than sun and 85.
