Shadyside Car Smashed For Moving Parking Spot Chair

PITTSBURGH,None — Chairs reserving parking spaces on snow-covered streets are not an uncommon sight in Pittsburgh, but one Shadyside woman was the victim of street justice when she moved someone's chair and parked in the spot.

The woman said she moved a chair to park and left a note on the chair saying it's rude and illegal to claim a spot on the street. When she woke up the next morning, she said the chair was gone and the back window of the sport utility vehicle in front of her parked car was smashed out.

Even though it's illegal to reserve spots, some residents said they'll continue to put out their chairs.

The city warned residents, also, that parking patrols are returning.

The Pittsburgh Parking Authority has given car owners two weeks to get cars off city streets and remove makeshift parking spots.

As the suspension is lifted, cars will be ticketed and possibly towed if drivers don't remove their illegally parked cars.

Parking police will use discretion before ticketing.

Officials said to contact a towing company if you cannot remove the car yourself.
