Police: Union Twp. man, 28, killed father over woman

UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A 28-year-old New Castle man was arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with his father’s death.

Police were called to an auto shop on State Street in Union Township around 2 a.m. Thursday for the report of a possible homicide.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Michael Burrelli and his 52-year-old father, Charles Burrelli. Charles Burrelli was pronounced dead at the scene with several apparent gunshot wounds.

Channel 11’s Amy Marcinkiewicz reported that investigators told her the Burrelli’s had gotten into an argument over a girl, and Michael shot Charles several times.

Authorities said when police arrived, Michael Burrelli was trying to get rid of his father’s body.

Marcinkiewicz also reported that police had previously been called to Burrelli’s home for reports of fights.
