ERIE, Pa. — They noticed something a little strange alongside a Pennsylvania road, and when troopers stopped, they found five guinea pigs had been left there.

State police troopers said they found the animals along a road in Erie and quickly scooped up the animals.

Two of the guinea pigs did not survive, police said.

An Erie-area animal shelter was caring for the animals.
