PITTSBURGH,None — While many Pittsburgh teens will spend their days of summer vacation at the pool or working a part-time job, others will spend their time "Taylor hunting."
It's no secret that "Twilight" heartthrob Taylor Lautner is in town for several months to shoot his latest movie, "Abduction."
Several website message boards are completely devoted to tracking the location of the teen star and many posts are surprisingly accurate, as is evidenced by the swarm of girls who've been showing up at various movie locations.
In the first week of filming alone, WPXI.com viewers sent us pictures of Lautner greeting fans on location at Hampton High School, in Bunola, Pa., and in a Mt. Lebanon neighborhood.
On Aug. 14, Lautner was spotted at Heinz Field, shaking hands with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Lautner doesn't appear to be bothered by his following in Pittsburgh and is all smiles in pictures we've seen.
"I've never met a celebrity, so it was really cool. I didn't expect him to be so nice," Hampton graduate Chelsea Waldschmidt told See and Be Seen. "It was amazing, I actually got so close to him I touched him."
While some fans can't seem to hide their excitement, others caution their fellow "Taylor hunters" to keep cool, and warn these sightings could quickly end.
"I was one of the lucky girls who got my picture with him and autograph but I was not pushing and screaming in his face...He is a normal teenager and people need to realize he wants to be treated just like one. You don't have to scream in his face and pretty much knock people out to get to him," a fan named Jamie posted on a message board.
"I was at Hampton both days and the first time Taylor came out to sign autographs everyone was much more civil… if everyone would act that way all the time Taylor would be much more likely to come out and sign," Nina posted.
Thanks to Bri'Anna for sending us this video that really captures the Taylor madness:
Hollywood hunks Jake Gyllenhaal and Russell Crowe both filmed movies in Pittsburgh over the past year, but the city has never seen a response quite like the one given to Lautner.
With the star power on our local streets comes the star treatment, and that apparently means paparazzi. Photographers from several national paparazzi outlets have been selling photos they've snapped of Lautner on set in Pittsburgh.
It's not every summer one of Hollywood's biggest stars calls Pittsburgh his home. There's always time for the pool and work can wait, right girls?
We want to see your pictures with Taylor Lautner. Send them to webstaff@wpxi.com and you could see them on WPXI-TV!
