12-year-old boy trapped, rescued from Vandergrift house fire

2 people burned in Vandergrift house fire

Two people, including a 12-year-old boy, were burned Wednesday afternoon in a house fire in Westmoreland County.

Firefighters were called to the home on Franklin Avenue in Vandergrift at 2:40 p.m. and found people trapped inside while thick smoke poured from an upstairs window.

At least two people suffered burns, according to Westmoreland County dispatchers. The fire chief told Channel 11 the boy had to be flown to the hospital and was badly hurt.
