ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — Allegheny County reported 74 new cases Sunday, according to the Allegheny County Health Department.
In the last 24 hours, the new positive cases come from 1,381 test results from from Aug. 10 through Aug. 15. Of those cases, 72 cases are confirmed and two are probable. The county’s total positive cases is now at 9,433.

PERSPECTIVE: Cases are out of 1,381 tests, a 5.4% positivity rate. It’s unclear when exactly the hospitalizations occurred, but they’ve increased recently in the daily reports
New cases range in patient age from 2 to 96 years old with an average patient age of 38 years.
The department also received reports of 21 new hospitalizations. Since March, there have been 798 people hospitalized because of coronavirus complications.

The total number of deaths as a result of COVID-19 in Allegheny County is 288. The newly reported deaths are of one person in their 60s, two in their 80s and one in their 90s with dates of death ranging from Aug. 10 to 13. One death is associated with a long-term care facility.
