Animal Friends to offer a drive-thru pet food distribution event on April 11

PITTSBURGH — The Animal Friends animal shelter will offer a drive-thru pet food pickup event on April 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help pet-owning families in need of pet food. The event will be held on the Animal Friends campus at 562 Camp Horne Road.

“As we see the needs of our community continue to grow during this pandemic, we are grateful to be in a position to help,” Jenn Geibel, the director of Clinic & Community Services at Animal Friends, said in a press release. “While we watch the lines at local food banks and pantries grow, we can’t help but think of the four-legged family members who could benefit from our assistance."

Pickup for the food will be “no-contact” and workers will be wearing gloves and a face mask. The shelter asks that those who are coming to pick up food also wear a mask and remain in their vehicle.
