Boy discharged from hospital after rare COVID-19 inflammatory condition

PITTSBURGH — 12-year-old Raydn Thomas was rushed to the ICU at UPMC Children’s Hospital with a rare inflammatory condition in children directly linked to COVID-19.

It’s called MIS-C and usually shows up more than a month after a child has contracted the virus.

Thomas was sent home on three different medications. He will have to follow up with a cardiologist for his enlarged heart along with other specialty doctors.

Hospital officials said they’ve seen an uptick in cases recently, but all patients have survived. Doctors say if your child is sick, don’t wait to call their doctor.
