The Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit said Wallace, who rented the house at 1803 Wesley Street, was sitting on a chair in the living room with his back to the living room window. An unknown person or persons opened fire outside of the house and through the living room window into the residence, striking Wallace numerous times in his back.
Detectives recovered 15 spent shell casings on the ground outside of the living room window.
A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of people wanted for the crime. Callers may remain anonymous.
Neighbors said the crime is unusual for the neighborhood and they hope the reward will lead to an arrest.
"It's quiet and pretty peaceful, other than little stuff here and there, but nothing approaching the magnitude of that," said Wesley Street resident John Zajdel. "You always want somebody who does something like that to be caught and brought to justice."
Anyone with information about Wallace’s killing is asked to call Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers at 412-255-TIPS.
