MOUNT OLIVER, Pa. — A dilapidated apartment building in Mount Oliver is scheduled to be demolished next week.
A fence and concrete barriers surround the old Giffin Building on Brownsville Road. The building is in such bad shape that it will be brought down sooner than originally planned.

The building’s roof is collapsed, windows are broken or boarded up and the bricks are covered with graffiti. Aside from an elevator shaft, little remains standing.
Mount Oliver’s borough manager said the roof of the building, which has been vacant for years, caved in over the winter.
A new apartment building is expected to replace the Giffin Building as part of a revitalization of the area.
