PITTSBURGH — St. Patrick’s Day celebrations may look a little different in Pittsburgh because of COVID-19, but restaurants are still offering deals for the holiday.
With the pandemic, infectious disease doctor Dr. Amesh Adalja, is warning celebrants to think twice about going out on the town to celebrate.
Adalja warns of community spread from the celebration.
“It’s important for people to remember, if they’re out on St. Patrick’s day, and they’re not vaccinated and they could likely be exposed,” he said.
His hope is that St. Patrick’s Day get togethers don’t cause another COVID spike like we saw after Halloween and Thanksgiving.
“I think it’s inevitable when we see social interaction occurring among unvaccinated individuals that there’s going to be some level of spread,” he said.
In fact he suggests some should get a covid-19 test test in a few days.
“Many should likely be tested 4 or 5 days after their St. Patrick’s Day festivities if they’ve been in a place where there is no social distancing, or mask wearing going on,” he said.
