Heat index could reach mid-90s Monday

PITTSBURGH — It will be a hot and dry evening as temperatures have pushed 90 degrees in many locations today.

Tonight, expect a mostly clear sky with lows near 70 by Monday morning.

The humidity will increase Monday with dew points near 70, which means the heat index values will be in the low to mid-90s. Stay hydrated while outside.

While a stray shower or thunderstorm can't be ruled out during the afternoon, the best chance of more widespread showers and T-storms will arrive by Monday evening and night – as a cold front approaches our area.

The strongest storms will be capable of gusty winds and very heavy rainfall. Lightning is a threat in any t-storm.

Wet weather will continue into Tuesday as well, but the humidity and temperatures will lower a bit.
