Employee charged in case of camera found in bathroom at Richland Township Target

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. — An employee has been charged in connection with a camera being found inside a public bathroom in the Richland Township Target.

Killian Redman, 28, is facing charges of tampering or fabricating evidence.

A Target employee went inside a unisex bathroom at the Target along Route 8 in April and saw something that looked like a USB charger plugged into the wall. It was actually a camera with an SD card, police said.

The employee told the manager, who called a meeting among other employees.

A witness said Redman took the camera and removed the SD card and left the store, according to the criminal complaint. Police never recovered the SD card.

Northern Regional Police Chief John Sicilia said they believe Redman placed the camera in the restroom but they couldn’t obtain enough evidence to file additional charges at this time.

Redman is charged with a misdemeanor and the penalty, if he is found guilty, ranges from a fine to jail time.

Redman has not been arraigned.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July. It’s unclear if Redman still works at Target.

Sicilia also said this case was challenging from the start because of a delay in notifying authorities.

A worker’s spouse told police about the incident – not Target officials. Target declined to comment on why the company did not report the incident and if Redman still works there.

Sicilia said the delay in notifying police gave Redman plenty of time to dispose of the evidence. Police did serve a search warrant on Redman’s home and electrical devices but found nothing.

Channel 11′s Jillian Hartman talked with Redman’s mother, who is defending her son, saying he had nothing to do with this. She said he did not take the SD card and said her son is a good person and would never do something like that.
