Former local assistant band director facing federal child pornography charges

PITTSBURGH — A West Virginia man who was once a local assistant band director is facing federal child pornography charges.

The Montour School District confirmed to Channel 11 Ryan Nicholas Wolf used to work there as an assistant band director. The superintendent said Wolf was employed there for one year from 2016 to 2017 when he resigned his position.

Wolf is now a suspect in a Department of Homeland Security investigation. According to federal court documents, he now lives in Wheeling, W.Va. He admitted to possessing child pornography. He told investigators that “his interest in such material was something with which he has been struggling since his teenage years.” Wolf also told agents they would find “a lot of child pornography on a thumb drive that was in his possession.”

Officials with the Montour School District said they never had any issues with Wolf during his brief employment there.
