Former Rowdy Buck reopens as new bar after fatal shooting

A South Side bar that closed in the aftermath of a fatal shooting in May reopened under new management.

The former Rowdy Buck Bar in the 1300 block of West Carson Street debuted Thursday night as Trixie’s Bar and Game Room, according to the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office.

The new establishment has different management from its predecessor and increased security procedures, including bag searches.

"We did some minor modifications," said Steve Zumoff, co-owner of Trixie's Bar and Game Room. "We took out the DJ booth. Refinished the floors a little bit."

Zumoff gave only Channel 11 a look inside. The dance floor is now gone, swapped out for pinball machines, pool tables and shuffleboard. Board games are also available for patrons.

"It will be mellower for maybe the neighborhood. It'll help the neighborhood a lot. The dance crowd was a different crowd."

Zumoff says he's also hired new management and staff, beefed up security, purchased HD security cameras, a scanner for metal objects and is mandating purse and backpack checks.
