The race for plywood is on in Valdosta, Ga.
At Lowe’s on Saturday night, it was flying off the shelves.
“We’re about to board up all the windows,” said Tommy Cowart. “The windows that face the wind. Board all them up so the (tree) limbs don't knock it out.”

People who live in Valdosta are bracing for a big hit from Hurricane Irma. Initially, it wasn't supposed to be that bad. But now they say it could be devastating.
We are about 24 hours out,” said Dennis Seay. “It was supposed to be 50-mile-per-hour winds; in the past 12 hours or so. they said up to 100."

“That's what they said. And we thought we were safe because it was going to roll up Florida and take the brunt of the punishment.”
Many residents of Florida's Gulf Coast drove north Saturday on Interstate 75 escaping to Valdosta, but the fear now is it may be just bad here.
“I've got a number of friends that have people evacuated that came to stay with them here and now they are like, holy cow, it's coming this way,” Seay said.
