Half of Pennsylvanians age 18 and older are fully vaccinated against COVID-19

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Half of Pennsylvanians who are age 18 or older are fully vaccinated against COVID, the Pennsylvania Department of Health announced Thursday.

As of Thursday morning, the state ranks fifth among all 50 states for total doses administered.

More than 55% of Pennsylvanians have received their first dose, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

More than 1,400 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in the pandemic to 1,191,531. The statewide positivity rate for the week is at 5.3%.

The department of health also reported 40 additional deaths, for a total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 to 26,965.

In Allegheny County, the health department is reporting 140 new cases in the past 24 hours. Bringing the total number of cases since March 2020 to 100,600 and 1,940 deaths.
