MUNHALL, Pa. — A home collapsed as it was engulfed by flames that threatened neighboring homes Tuesday morning in Munhall.
The fire was reported shortly after 4:30 a.m. on 21st Avenue.
Thick smoke billowed as flames tore through the home, which collapsed into a pile of rubble.
Firefighters used a ladder truck to attack the fire from above, spraying water onto the intense flames.
Officials said an elderly woman who lived in the home made it out, but she was taken to a hospital to be evaluated.

A firefighter was evaluated at the scene after being hit in the head with something, officials said.
The home where the fire started was in close proximity to homes on either side. Crews were seen on the roof of one of the neighboring homes.
Both neighboring homes sustained some damage, officials said.
One of the neighboring homes is being renovated and no one is living there. Two men who were inside the second neighboring home got out after their dogs woke them up.
It is unclear what started the fire.
