PITTSBURGH — Parents have started to notice inappropriate content in some videos their children were watching on the kids’ version of YouTube.

Twisted and disturbing themes are making their way into children’s videos that feature characters from Disney’s Frozen, Doc McStuffins, Peppa Pig, Mickey Mouse and more.

The BBC recently uncovered hundreds of "fake" children's videos circulating on YouTube Kids, despite the under-18 setting, with characters screaming as they are injected with syringes, set on fire or eaten by alligators, as well as sexual content.

According to the BBC, YouTube suggests parents turn on "restricted mode" and monitor the channel's activity.
