Increased police presence at Bethel Park High School after alleged threat

BETHEL PARK, Pa. — Bethel Park police are investigating an alleged threat that was circulated on social media.

According to a letter sent home to parents, administrators at Bethel Park High School were made aware of the alleged threat Wednesday and notified police.

It was a written alleged threat of violence at the school on Oct. 12. A picture of the message was shared on social media, the letter said.

Officers conducted a sweep of the building following dismissal. There will be an increased police presence at the school during school hours and for after school events.

According to the letter, police said that they do not believe the threat is credible but are taking precautionary measures through Oct. 12.

Anyone with information about the alleged threat is asked to contact the high school principal at 412-854-8584.

If the person responsible is identified, they will face criminal charges, the letter said.
