Local contractor charged with ripping off customers

PENN HILLS, Pa. — A Penn Hills contractor is accused of cashing checks for work he never did.

Kelley Buefort told Channel 11 she paid the contractor, Carmen Nobile, for a new fence.

“He bought three pieces of fencing and never came back. $700 is a lot of money, a lot of money, especially when you’re on Social Security,” Buefort said.

She’s one of many people who say they’ve been ripped off by Nobile during the last 20 years.

Nobile is now facing both criminal and civil charges.

Buefort has a warning for Nobile’s potential customers.

"He’s taking advantage of people like me on Social Security or the elderly, and we’re trusting you’re going to do a job, and you’re not even fulfilling what you say you’re going to do, said Buefort.

Nobile is due in court next week for charges related to Buefort’s case.

Nobile spoke to WPXI, admitting that what he did was wrong and he wants to pay back two victims in the most recent charges

“I did this, I’m no angel and I’m going to go to court Monday and handle this like a man," he said. “I did offer to pay the victims and they don’t want my money. They want me in jail.”
