Monroeville parents facing charges after 5-year-old shoots, kills 3-year-old sister

MONROEVILLE — The parents of a toddler who was shot and killed by her 5-year-old brother in their Monroeville apartment in March have been charged.

Martz Colvin has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, several counts of endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person.

Brea Sanders has been charged with several counts of endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person.

According to the criminal complaint, the parents told officers 5 guns were inside their home at the time of the shooting. The father informed police he loves guns and said his son does too, so he showed him how to use one.

According to Monroeville Police, the child got access to an unsecured gun and accidentally shot his sister.

The child’s parents are facing a long list of charges including endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person.
