PITTSBURGH — The Mount Ararat Baptist Church gave away another 500 gift cards to families in need on Saturday.
The church says the members are the reason it’s been able to help so many people. With the contributions made by the congregation and supporters, since January the church has distributed 500-700 gift cards to assist households to purchase food or much needed medications.
“We are beginning to see a light at the end of tunnel,” said Rev. Dr. William H. Curtis, pastor of Mount Ararat Baptist Church.
“However, families are still struggling to put food on their tables. Our mission is to provide a financial resource to assist in purchasing any specific foods or necessities that are needed in the household.”
Mount Ararat’s Community Activity Center, 745 N. Negley Avenue, East Liberty, provides a monthly Food Bank every second Saturday at 8 a.m. to help in this ongoing effort to assist families.
