One arrested in Mt. Pleasant standoff

MT. PLEASANT, Pa. — One person was arrested after a standoff in Mt. Pleasant on Monday morning.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, officers responded to the home on Pine Street near the intersection with College Avenue after a 911 call, where the caller reported people in his house.

When officers arrived, the man fired a shot, police said. It is unclear if he intentionally fired on the officers, police said.

Drugs are believed to be involved, police said.

The man came out of the home soon after and was taken into custody.

According to our partners at the Trib, the incident took place about two blocks from the borough fire station.

“We have the scene secured; we do not believe there is any additional threat to the community,” state police Trooper Steve Limani said.

The investigation is ongoing.
