PITTSBURGH — The University of Pittsburgh will not play its game Tuesday night against No. 20 Duke as scheduled, as the university announced the game has been postponed.

In a release, Pitt cited “a positive test, subsequent quarantining, and contact tracing” within its program as reason for the Atlantic Coast Conference postponing the game.

The university did not specify who in the program has tested positive, or how many of its players and staff will have to quarantine because of it.

Pitt said in the release that the basketball team is now “adhering to the outlined protocols within the ACC Medical Advisory Group report.” You can read that here.

The ACC has not yet announced the new date for the Pitt-Duke game, and it’s unclear if any other upcoming games for Pitt will need to be postponed. The Panthers are scheduled next to play Notre Dame on Jan. 2.

Head coach Jeff Capel recently battled the coronavirus. After testing positive on Dec. 19, Capel missed Pitt’s win over Louisville a few days later.

He spoke about what he experienced over the last two weeks in a press conference Monday.
