Pitt sorority suspended over reports of hazing

PITTSBURGH — Reports of hazing have led to the suspension of a sorority at the University of Pittsburgh.

The Delta Zeta sorority is being investigated for allegedly hazing new members, a spokesperson for the university said.

Delta Zeta has been placed on interim suspension of registration, meaning it must cease all organizational operations until further notice, the spokesperson said.

The alleged hazing violates the Student Code of Conduct and the Fraternity and Sorority Guidelines.

“Our policies and expectations have been made very clear to our students. We encourage all students to reflect on their involvement in our fraternity and sorority community and their organization’s commitment to a culture that values excellence and the well-being of its community members,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

In October, a Pitt fraternity was also suspended for similar allegations.
