PITTSBURGH — Sodexo at the University of Pittsburgh has filed a WARN notice with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. As of June 30, 708 workers will be permanently laid off, the notice said. It follows Pitt confirming a change in food services providers last month.
Sodexo had managed the university’s dining halls and other eateries as well as catering for events for 29 years. Pitt chose Compass Group as its dining contractor following a review of proposals, according to The Pitt News, which reported the change on March 17. Compass begins on July 1, the day after Sodexo’s 10-year contract ends.
