Pittsburgh police shut down Fifth Avenue near UPMC Mercy after shooting

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police blocked off a portion of Fifth Avenue Monday night after a shooting just blocks from the Duquesne University campus and UPMC Mercy hospital.

Investigators said the shooting happened around 10:45 p.m., and officers quickly shut down the road between Pride and Stevenson streets.

The victim -- who has not been identified -- was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was listed in stable condition.

It’s unclear what led to the shooting, and police have not released any details regarding a suspected shooter.
