Police: 2 men lead officers on chase, crash with 13-year-old in car

GREENSBURG, Pa. — Police in Greensburg have arrested two men wanted on warrants out of Allegheny County, but not before the suspects tried to get away with a 13-year-old in the car.

According to police, the chase covered about 5 miles, from Greensburg to Jeannette.

“They were speeding, going through red lights and weaving down the highway. Luckily, it was 3:30 in the morning so traffic was minimal,” said Capt. Robert Stafford, of the Greensburg Police Department.

A few minutes earlier, the car was spotted by a Greensburg police officer near Saint Clair Park without its lights on.

Police followed the car through city streets and found that the license plate didn’t belong to that car, so they turned on their lights and siren.

TRENDING NOW:

“The vehicle started to speed away. It eventually made its way to College Avenue and headed toward the city of Jeannette,” Stafford said.

Police said that the chase lasted until those suspects crashed into a telephone pole.

“Both the driver and passenger were wanted out of Allegheny County,” Stafford said.

David Steath Jr. and Ramon Williams the III were arrested.

Police also found a 13-year-old boy in the back seat of the car.

No one was seriously hurt, but officers believe they had been on a dayslong crime spree that carried over into two counties.

“It seemed like, within a couple (of) days' span, being there was a driver’s license in the car belonging to somebody else, gun belonged to somebody else and then the car,” Stafford said.
