Port Authority among companies offering employees incentives to get COVID-19 vaccine

PITTSBURGH — The Port Authority of Allegheny County doesn’t require its employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19. However, the company will give them $200 if they decide to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

“Our drivers are serving a lot of people,” said agency spokesman Adam Brandolph. “They come into contact with people on a daily basis. It’s very important for them to be protected against the virus.”

Employees can also get two days of paid time off if they experience any side effects from the vaccine.

Amtrak is also spending millions of dollars in cash bonuses to encourage employees to get vaccinated. Additionally, people who work for Allegheny County can receive $100 by getting the vaccine, Target employees can get up to four hours of extra pay for being vaccinated and Starbucks employees can get two hours of paid time off for each dose.
